Cristina Edwards is a visual artist, writer, educator and musician based in Oakland, CA. Born in England, Cristina is the eldest daughter of a Filipina Immigrant and an officer in the US Navy. Her work explores identity, belonging, non-duality, and the inherent life force all beings possess.
Raised in an eccentric, transient, evangelical family of nine, Cristina's work dances with the nature of identifying as human, and engages with the convergence of the multiple origins she carries. Her work is a channel for excavation, healing, and exploring impermanence as the beauty of change.
Cristina has trained and worked in the environmental science sector, and spent the early part of her career doing ecological field work with the Bureau of Land Management, and guiding extended expeditions on wilderness and public lands. These places and experiences inform and nourish her life and art practice continually.
Cristina practices in a variety of media, including painting, ceramics, fabric, weaving, writing, and singing.
She practices as a teaching artist, and also works on public art projects and mural restoration. She has created intentional creative courses in a variety of media and focus areas for both youth and adults.
Cristina has lived in various parts of California, Florida, Wyoming, and Oregon. She currently resides in Oakland, CA with her chosen family.
